Finding Immigration Records Online

  • 16 Jul 2022
  • 10:00 AM - 11:30 AM
  • Online Webinar

Due to low registration numbers, this class has been cancelled.

Presented by Mary Wickersham, sponsored by the Minnesota Genealogical Society. A virtual program from the comfort of your desk.

Description:
Knowing when and how our ancestors arrived at their settlement country adds to the narrative of their life, and may help us locate their birth region, if not yet known. This session explores how to find immigration records - naturalization records and ships' manifests – in online databases. Examples include Ancestry.com, Ellis Island and Castle Garden (New York) and Steve Morse's special search forms. Morse’s site offers efficient searches of ships' records, covering New York and many other United States ports of arrival.

About the Speaker:
Mary Wickersham is a longtime member of the Minnesota Genealogical Society and the Irish Genealogical Society International, and a past director for both societies. She has over 12 years' experience as a professional genealogist and lecturer, and is a member of the Association of Professional Genealogists. Mary specializes in Minnesota and Irish research, and teaching how to use online research tools.

Cost:
$30 MGS members, $40 nonmembers
