Finding Printed Sources Using the Internet
By Tom Rice
This one-hour lecture will demonstrate the use of the Internet to find books, articles and manuscripts
relating to your family. Because “it is not all on the web and never will be,” a genealogist needs to know how to find printed matter in
libraries and archives using online tools. Tom will focus on web-based book and manuscript finding tools such as WorldCat, NUCMC and MNLink, the
inter-library loan tool for Minnesotans. He will demonstrate use of Zotero, a Firefox extension, to capture bibliographic citations from library
catalog listings.
Tom Rice is a Certified Genealogist, Managing Editor of Septs, the journal of the Irish Genealogical Society International, and an instructor in
the MGS Intermediate Genealogy Course.
